Timore Inferno review

Timore Inferno is a First Person Horror game where you play as some random guy and are apparently in the head of some little girl. You will not be getting more information than what is written on the Steam page regarding the plot or premise and there honestly doesn’t seem to be a deeper meaning to the events that take place in the game. When you start up the game you’ll be in a normal house but will quickly be transported to a bizarre, dream like world.

The graphics are sub-par but work in this game’s favor to give it a janky, unnatural feel to it and its inhabitants. You are not alone in this world and will soon run into a fire axe which can be used to defend yourself. This is a major downfall of Timore Inferno since nothing kills tension faster than having the knowledge that you can easily wipe the floor with them. To top it off the combat simply feels terrible with very poor hit detection and no real interaction on your part other than click the left mouse button to win.

Removing the combat entirely would have done wonders since this world is pretty eerie and the game does have a few effect moments that will have you wanting to turn down the volume before you get scared witless. There is a jump button but it is never used for anything nor is there anything to explore as it is very linear. Your only ally will be a strangely out of place alien that will give you tips on how to survive. Whether you listen to it or not is up to you but dying will cause you to start the entire game over again since there are no checkpoints or saving system.

That may sound game-breaking though it turns out to be just an annoyance as this game can be completed in about 20-25 minutes even if you take your time. What’s worse is that it has an absurdly terrible ending where I was unsure if the game just ended or I merely died causing me to go through it again just to confirm that it was indeed the ending. I’ve been knocking this game quite a bit but it is rather atmospheric and does make good use of what little assets it has. It’s just that unfortunately this is being sold for $5 (or regional equivalent) and it really just feels more like a school project rather than a game to be sold.
