The Shameless Squadron Pink Woman is a 2D beat ’em up that has us play as the titular Pink Ranger. Her task is simple, to keep the world’s peace and fight evil. When the world is seemingly overrun by a bunch of villains that sexually abuse women, it is up to her to put a stop to it. Being a woman herself, losing means that she too will succumb to that same fate. Armed with nothing but her fists and her sick kicks we must get through nine stages in order to finally face the big bad himself.
Booting up the game will see you introduced to an amazing theme song. It is very reminiscent of another H game I covered not too long ago that had the same Power Ranger premise. In any case, contrary to most of this dev’s other titles, the gallery mode is not unlocked from the get-go. You will have to either experience them in-game or beat the title first before unlocking its hentai.
You’ll have likely noticed by now that the sprites are massive. Your character alone takes up around 25% of the screen. It isn’t an issue in this title, however. All of the enemies you will face are melee-based, so you will be trading blows up close and personal. There are two forms of attacks. One is a punch and the other is a kick. Both do the same amount of damage, though kicking has a massive advantage in that it can hit everything in front of you. When punching, an enemy can avoid the blow if he is low on the ground. The only real use for punches are in the final boss encounter as to smack his lasers out of the air.
All of your attacks are a bit on the slow side. Combat has more to do with timing than it does button mashing. Most of your foe’s only form of offense is to rush towards and try grapple you. Keeping them at least an arm’s length away is quite important, as you only have four hit-points to get through a level. It becomes more vital later on as the enemies start moving faster. The first hit you take will rip your clothes, while the other three will see you sexually abused by the enemy that manages to get his hands on you. There will be the occasional first aid kit to keep you moving along, it is a pretty forgiving title.
On your last hit-point, you will have access to a one-time special attack. It is used by pressing the Spacebar and will see Pink Ranger kick a flurry of footballs to damage enemies. That was an interesting form of attack that came out of the blue, but there is no denying its effectiveness. If you lose all of your health, you will be treated to an H CG in where you are abused and kicked to the main menu afterward. I recommend not button mashing to skip the game-over screen. The first option is New Game and you likely do not want to activate it then have to start from stage 1 again. Just click Continue to have it set you back to the same stage you failed on.
There are two bosses to be found throughout your travels. They are no pushovers and will require your full attention to bring down. Both were pretty fun to fight. As you continue onward through the levels, you will occasionally come across people going at it in the background. Unlike the rest of the art, they will be 3D models. That was a peculiar decision from the devs, though it does fit in well enough thanks to how bizarre everything in this title is. There are a total of three backgrounds throughout the nine stages.
Most of the hentai content is fine. Being forced into sex yourself and the lewd background characters are decent. The problem here are the CGs. While the art in them is not bad, their attempts at ‘animation’ heavily degrades them. It is a simple and sloppily implemented image distortion effect. Imagine taking a photo and repeatedly stretching then releasing it to give the illusion of movement. That is nothing new and can work, yet it is handled really poorly here. They would have been much better off without it. As it is, you are more likely to get motion sickness rather than turned on.
Another issue I have with this title is that there is no save feature. Once you shut down the game, you will either have to unlock the gallery mode again or use cheat codes. Luckily, all you have to do is press R in the main menu to unlock everything, but it was still worth mentioning. A really cool addition are the secret levels you can access by pressing 1-3 at the title screen. These will take you to one of three new and far more challenging stages, bringing the total levels to 12. There are even unique enemies in them. Just really cool bonuses for those still yearning for more difficulty.
After every stage you will see a bit of the story, visualized to look like a TV ad for next week’s episode. I have no idea if it was meant to be comedic, yet I found them hilarious. Judging by the theme song lyrics, I’m betting it was their intention and their blunt style of humor had me chuckling. When all is said and done, I quite enjoyed The Shameless Squadron Pink Woman. It lasted me nearly an hour including those challenging bonus levels. If you are on the lookout for a zany and erotic beat ’em up, this is a title you may want to consider adding to your collection.
