Rabbit Burn is an adult-oriented billard game in where an entire gladiator-like arena is the table and the balls explode with the force of an artillery shell upon contact. You have been invited into this event with the hopes of striking it rich and becoming the new ringleader of this madhouse. There are twenty levels to survive with each having six foes to defeat. What really makes this unnerving are the realistic rabbit masks all of the contestants are forced to wear. Each person has a unique color to easily identify them with yours always being white.
You do not control your character directly. Instead, you shoot your ball in the direction you want him to go, and he will perform different tasks automatically. His actions range from beating the snot out of an opponent, following his black colored ball, or claiming a girl. There are six AI girls roaming about the arena, and claiming all of them is your goal. This is where the hentai aspect of the title comes into play. See, to “claim” her, you need to make love to her until you manage to finish inside her. That is easier said than done when you have explosions in the background and men dressed as rabbits trying to punch you in the back of the head.
Doing the deed will take several seconds, and you will be unable to claim her if your stamina is too low or an opponent hits you. With six other people all trying to do the same, that’s a whole lot of competition. Ideally, you’ll want to fling your ball into another one that has a cluster of enemies near it. No foe is able to move or perform any actions until you do so, meaning you have all the time in the world to line up a shot or think things through. Time itself doesn’t freeze, however. It is possible that an AI girl will wander into your line of sight just as you take a shot and ruin your intended path. With only 12 turns, wasting even one can be your downfall if you don’t pay attention to your surroundings.
No one aside from you takes shots. How the battle takes place mostly depends on how you choose to go about things. What you are required to do each turn is always hit another ball, so you are not entirely free to do as you please. Taking a turn without coming into contact with a ball will count as a ‘Chicken’, and getting three of these means you automatically lose the entire match. Besides that, it is sometimes also in your best interest to hit as many balls as possible with one shot as they increase the amount of time before the next turn. Normally you only get six seconds to claim girls, fight foes, and other actions that will take up most of that time. Getting a combo of hits will allow you to accomplish a lot more in any given turn.
Extending the amount of time in a turn will not always play out to your favor, especially in cases where you have low health. In those cases, it may be wiser to take care to only strike a single ball to lower the chances that somebody karate chops you right in the jugular. The other big factor to take into consideration is your stamina. Once it is depleted, all it takes is a single hit to interrupt you from claiming a girl and having to start all over again. With a full bar, it is far more likely you can withstand until you finish. Both of these will refill automatically over time and are typically back to a completely filled state within a turn.
By having six opponents in such a tiny arena, chances are that if you don’t thin them out, things will quickly go south for you as everyone tries to beat each other to death in a battle royal like rumble. Taking them out first lessens the overall danger, but they will also get back up over time, stronger than before. You, on the other hand, gather more overall health and attack power by having sex with the girls. It gets incredibly dangerous later on as only two punches can knock you down from full health, so wrapping things up quickly is an integral part of your strategy and overall score. Your character can die up to three times, which is more than enough for the 12 turns a match takes. The real danger of being knocked out is that every girl that you have claimed will abandon you and now be available to your enemies.
At times, a girl may randomly revive you via the power of sex, and you will be able to maintain some of your harem. Speaking of girls, there are thirty unique models and winning a match will unlock them for Gallery mode, in where you can see their sex animations at will. There are also over twenty foes, each with a unique name and fur color. Not all are rabbits, a few animals will be introduced later on that seem to take more damage to go down and punch harder. That’s all well and good, yet the arena itself never changes. From the start of the game to the end, it will be that same tiny playfield. All that will change are the starting positions of your foes as well as peppering in some blocks to impede your shots.
It doesn’t do much to shake things up. Sadly, the way in which they increase the challenge is very cheap. They love placing blocks in the most inconvenient of places, and towards the end, it gets even worse. You will have red blocks that follow you around and surround you. That causes you to need to take a shot quickly, but with how poor the physics are, and how cluttered the small arena is, it gets frustrating. The problem of its physics runs even deeper than just that, it essentially negates all of its other gameplay aspects due to how random it is. Whether you lightly tap it or smack it full force, you can never predict what will happen, only its initial trajectory.
The ball is apparently made of the bounciest in existence and will zoom around the place never stopping. Remember how balls explode when they come into contact with one another? Yeah, there will be nonstop explosions, and you are just as likely to be your own worst enemy. Also, remember how your player is supposed to follow the ball? That also flies out the window, and everybody just does whatever they feel like it. All strategy is now gone due to this one issue and winning will rely mostly on luck. I wouldn’t say it ruins the game, though if you are the type of person that feels like flinging a controller into a fish tank while playing Mario Party, stay far away from this.
Rabbit Burn’s strongest component has to be the hentai. There is a wide variety of girls, quite a few positions, and the animation is pretty good. Furthermore, not only do you have a gallery mode, but beating the game also unlocks a VIP lounge to bring more than two characters into the mix and record it. The sex animations are only for one male and female, you can not mix genders or add someone else into their lovemaking. If you don’t care for the hentai aspect of it and just want to play, there is an option to censor the explicit content. All it does is create a black border while they are doing the deed, though it doesn’t remove anything.
Beating the game will also unlock the ability to listen to all of the title’s music tracks. If you are a fan of classic Jazz, you will love this. Heck, you can even make any character dance from quite a variety of styles while you listen to some tunes. All in all, Rabbit Burn suffers from a single fatal flaw that really drags its entire gameplay experience down, but its sheer weirdness and competence in other departments still make this a title well worth considering for those lewd gamers out there. It won’t blow your mind by any means, though I seriously doubt there is another game quite like this.
