Starting October 18 you will be able to download a special demo of the games via the Nintendo eShop or the official Nintendo website. The demo introduces players to the new Alola region & features Ash-Greninja, Ash’s special Pokémon from the anime Pokémon the Series: XYZ. Upon completion, Ash-Greninja will be avaiable to transfer to the full version of Pokémon Sun or Pokémon Moon once it is launched on November 23nd.
Along with news of the special demo, some new features & Pokémon were revealed. Festival Plaza which allows player to connect & interact with others nearby or through the internet. By talking to people and listening to their requests in Festival Plaza, players can receive Festival Coins, this coinscan be used in various stores such as a dye house, goody shops (has rare items) or bouncy castles that allow your Pokémon to train in. Gathering more coins allows the Festival Plaza to rank up & thus unlock more features.
Poké Pelago, another new feature, allows Pokémon that are stored in the PC Box to engange in exploration of various isles, play & other fun activities. The more Pokémon stored in the PC box the more the facilities develop, increasing rewards, activities & even raise Pokémon.
Mega Evolution also makes a return. Pokémon that were capable of doing so in previous games are able too do so in Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon. Mega Stones can be bought, found or given by NPCs, no new Mega Evolutions have been announced.
The first stage evolution of the starter Pokémon were revealed, Datrix, Torracat & Brionne.
Dartrix
Type: Grass-Flying
The Blade Quill Pokémon Dartrix evolves from Rowlet. Dartrix attacks by throwing its knife-edged feathers, and it possesses extremely sharp senses. This Pokémon can detect opponents behind it and can throw feathers to strike them without even seeing them. This Pokémon cares a great deal about its appearance, grooming its feathers in every spare moment it has.
Torracat
Type: Fire
The Fire Cat Pokémon Torracat evolves from Litten. This Pokémon produces flames for its attacks from a bell-like sac attached at the base of its throat. Torracat has a great love for battle and will attack relentlessly. Its mane can sense what is going on around it, even in the dark, and is able to detect the presence of hidden enemies.
Brionne
Type: Water
The Pop Star Pokémon Brionne evolves from Popplio. Brionne can dance in perfect time with others and is always cheery and positive. A very hard worker, Brionne learns dances by imitating other members of its colony and can sometimes even learn dances from humans. As this Pokémon dances, it creates balloons and slaps them into its target, making them explode and deal damage to its opponents.
