Magic Tavern is a simple game that has you shooting mugs and goblets with your magic spell. Upon starting up the game, some wizard shows up telling you to stop scaring the peasants with your cheap illusions then challenges to break as much of their stuff as you can within 2 minutes. One of the first things you’ll notice is that your hands are upside down causing you to hold your Vive controllers in a Spiderman hand motion.
You only have a single spell, and the more you charge it up, the bigger the blast will be. The mugs you need to shoot will randomly spawn in places, and you must do your best to shoot them down as quickly as possible. The physics of them breaking apart is nice as is the sound effect though this is all the game has to offer which will inevitably get old sooner rather than later. Each object is worth a different amount of points while an hourglass will net yourself five extra seconds.
After the timer runs down, you will be shown your score and will either try again or exit the game. There are no online leaderboards to give you something to shoot for so this game will hold your attention for an extremely short time. It does look very nice; I’ll give it that though I’m afraid it feels more like a tech demo than an actual game. At two dollars I can see Magic Tavern being worth it to some but I simply cannot recommend it due to both the upside down hand glitch and it being an extremely bare-bones title with no appeal after your first two-minute playthrough is up.
